'WE WANT TO BE AS HEALTHY AS WE CAN'

When interior stylist and Better Homes and Gardens presenter, Juliet Love was diagnosed with diabetes, she was six months pregnant and knew little about the disease. Seven years later, it has inspired her to become a qualified Health and Nutrition Coach and her family - husband, celebrity landscape designer and TV presenter Charlie Albone, and their boys Leo and Hartford is enjoying the rewards.
'WE WANT TO BE AS HEALTHY AS WE CAN'

My second pregnancy was so different to my first. I was tired all the time and didn’t feel well, but I put it down to the fact that I had a toddler so life was busier.

“But then I started to get severe sugar cravings and was eating things that I don’t typically eat much of.

“For some reason, I never had the glucose tolerance test that you’re meant to have, during my first pregnancy, and I wasn’t sent to have it during my second pregnancy either. So when I talked about these sugar cravings with Charlie, together we decided that if there was ever a time for cravings, it’s during pregnancy. I accepted it was normal and everything was fine.

“Soon after, I was driving with Leo, who was one, in the car and I got a really bad migraine and lost my vision. I pulled over straight way and rang mum, who came and drove me straight to the doctor.

“He put the pieces together and sent me for that glucose test and the result was off the charts, so much so they thought it was a bad reading. But the second test result came back exactly the same and I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. When changing my diet as prescribed didn’t help, I started insulin injections and thankfully, all of my symptoms calmed down.
