From multimillion-dollar rarities to pulling up the SS Central America treasure, Richard Kenneth "Kenny" Duncan Sr. has seen and handled many amazing numismatic rarities and historical artifacts.
In the mid-1980s, Duncan's career had an inauspicious beginning when he was an enterprising vestpocket dealer who went full-time, rented a desk in the back of a local coin shop and began attending every coin show he could.
With hard work and honest dealings, Duncan quickly built an industrywide network of trading partners, forming the foundation upon which he built one of the top numismatic companies of the past half century.
During the 1980s and 1990s, Duncan's Herculean firm, U.S.Coins, traveled to over three-dozen coin shows annually, allowing Duncan to garner a reputation for his honest and fair dealings.
The late 1980s market was strong and, within a year, Duncan owned the coin shop he was working from. Within three years, he had risen to become one of the nation's top wholesale rare-coin dealers.
Keeping the shop, he moved the wholesale operations to offices in Houston's nearby Galleria District.
