WHAT IS SNAGGING?
Although it doesn’t have a formal contractual definition, snagging concerns aspects of work that are complete but have minor faults, defects or errors in the fit and finish that require remedial action prior to a project being complete. Your contract with your builder can include retention monies under a ‘making good of defects’ section, meaning a percentage of money is held back in case any works are defective or fall short of the standard expected during the defect liability period — the time the builders are contracted to deal with any issues (usually six to 12 months).
