PEACE OF MIND

Home automation systems and security systems are coming together to deliver better security solutions. By combining early warning, detection, deterrent and alarm systems into a central control system, smart homes become more secure homes.

SMART SECURITY

Homemation solutions architect and client liaison Warren Husband says it’s essential to increase a smart home’s level of security by integrating systems (alarms, cameras, lighting and audio-visual) into a Control4 home automation system. “Our Luma X20 cameras feature advanced analytics that can be integrated into a Control4 system to allow the automation system to notify a home owner or respond more accurately, based on set triggers.”

Homemation has programmed a Control4 system to respond to a security trigger by reporting via the home’s video distribution system to give an immediate view of the triggered zone. “The system also plays an announcement through the home audio distribution system, the lights are activated inside the home, and the outside lights flash for a few seconds,” says Husband. “The system also activates the irrigation system for the zone that triggered (assuming this is outside) so that if the alarm was triggered by a cat in the garden, the sprinkler system can chase them off to avoid another false alarm.”
