Corporate executive and mother of two teenagers, a 17-year-old son and 19-year-old daughter, this owner decided to build a home that was both safe and private.
“My children and I lived in a lovely well-maintained area but with my frequent travel because of work, I wanted a home with higher levels of security for my children when I’m out of town or the country,” says the owner.
The corner stand on the estate, which is located on a greenbelt, became the main driver for the design of this property, and the architect decided to use a U-shaped layout to create privacy via an internal courtyard.
“I enjoyed the way my architect interpreted my requirements and delivered on a design that totally spoke to them. Her first draft delivered so close to what I had asked for that there were only minor revisions thereafter.”
The owner describes her style as simple, uncomplicated and unfussy, and this is reflected in the décor throughout. “I think this describes me and my two children well. We are lovers of art, and support African artists,” she says.
