MY TIME IN THE UNITED STATES left me disheartened by the array of clothing options available – flimsy, poorly crafted shirts that felt as delicate as tissue paper, all too common at the local mall.
As someone who’s always admired the elegance of high-quality, minimalist clothing meticulously created by passionate artisans, I found myself growing weary of the modern approach to fashion. My evolving tastes prompted a quest for something more fitting, prompting me to delve deep into fashion’s archives.
After thorough investigation and numerous inquiries, my research converged on a single revelation: the world of heritage clothing. In a bygone era, long before the advent of fast fashion and mass consumption, clothing was procured thoughtfully. Garments were characterised by simplicity, practicality, and lasting durability.
While exploring the picturesque landscapes of Oregon, my journey led me to an unassuming gem known as Porterhouse Clothing and Supply. The moment I entered this store was the moment I entered a realm of undiscovered opulence.
The air was imbued with the rich scent of leather, while the cosiness of wooden furnishings created an inviting ambiance. The store carried pieces from a variety of brands. Each piece was meticulously hand-crafted with premium materials, preserving the exact patterns of their original counterparts from as far back as the 1920s. The sheer dedication and passion invested in these creations were reminiscent of an era when craftsmanship reigned supreme.
Seeking versatility in my initial foray, my attention gravitated towards jeans. I must admit, the initially steep price point was intimidating – these pieces ranged from MYR900 upwards, even stretching into the thousands.
