How did you get started with barbering?
I used to work as a barista in the same space as the barbershop, and the owner at the time, Kevin Cottie, worked the same shift as me. I loved how Kevin’s customers would leave the shop smiling, so I thought I’d give this trade a try. I did that by asking Kevin if he would take an apprentice, and he did. So for a few days a week, he would teach me the skills after our shifts at 10 p.m. And after six months of that, I decided to go full-on into barbering.
How would you describe your style?
I would say that my style leans towards workwear. And I love the Japanese vintage look. There’s also a bit of Americana influences in there. It helps that I enjoy thrifting, so I find awesome items that fit this aesthetic.
