WHEN IT COMES TO HISTORY, few other watch brands carry the tumultuous journey that A. Lange & Söhne has had for some 145 years since its beginnings. Add to that the passion for watchmaking passed down through the generations and you have a brand that’s steeped both in heritage and craftsmanship.
After having its main manufacturing building bombed and ownership of the company confiscated by the communist regime of the time, A. Lange & Sönne would finally be reborn in 1990, and it’s made great strides in watchmaking since.
Some examples of these great strides – namely for 2023 – are the Lange 1 Time Zone and the 1815 Rattrapante Perpetual Calendar.
A. LANGE & SÖHNE LANGE 1 TIME ZONE
This watch has gracefully evolved since its unveiling in 2005. In 2020, it underwent another transformation with its manufacture hand-wound calibre L141.1 movement, which increased the power reserve to 72 hours and improved on shock resistance. It also included other smaller changes like the repositioning of the day-night indicators.
Fast forward to 2023 and this masterpiece now gleams with a 950-platinum case, complemented by a rhodium-coloured dial.
