And just like that, we are more than midway through 2022. And it's a year that has seen much progress. We're finally nearing what looks like the end of the pandemic, we're seeing functional change in legislation for marginalised bodies all over the world, and, well, there is a woman in the White House and American supreme court! Things are looking up, or at least moving forward.
That last bit, well, it doesn't say much about the woman on the ground and in Africa; certainly not the woman in the workplace. If you rolled your eyes when you read that, it's understandable.
The narrative is not uncommon. However unrepresentative of the place of the average woman that kind of thing is, it's something that eventually filters down and has untapped potential to influence things for the better.

And the question of just where the average working woman finds herself in the current social, political, and professional climate has never been tougher to answer.
The fact is that the issue doesn't begin and end with the pay gap. There are other factors such as representation in leadership, access to resources, and general respect for women in senior positions that must form part of our line of sight if we are to paint the picture as accurately as possible. So, let's take the time and try to do that now.
