'I OWE EVERYTHING TO BOB DOWNE'

Mark Trevorrow likes to joke that he’s been living in a time warp since the early 1980s.

At the time, the comedian was climbing the charts as part of the ’60s retro act, The Globos. Then came along the ‘Prince of Polyester’, Bob Downe. As the safari suit-wearing ’70s lounge crooner, Mark became a household name – and he and Bob’s signature blond helmet hairdo have been inseparable ever since!

Welcoming New Idea into the Sydney home he shares with husband, architect and designer Stefan Elliott, Mark says with a laugh: “People often ask me what I was doing in the ’80s. I have to say I wasn’t doing the ’80s, I was doing the ’60s and ’70s!”

Mark and Stefan wed in San Francisco in 2017. They got together at a World AIDS Day event in 2013 but had known each other for 10 years before that.
