The actress and her Aussieborn husband Ben SmithPeterson have christened their first child Tupelo Storm. Tupelo is a city in Mississippi and was Elvis’ birthplace.

Riley, 34, says she and Ben picked the name before Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis was released – which made everyone aware of Tupelo.

“I was like, ‘This is great because it’s not really a well-known word or name in relation to my family – it’s not like Memphis or something,’” she told Vanity Fair. “Then when the Elvis movie came out, it was like, Tupelo this and Tupelo that. I was like, ‘Oh, no.’ But it’s fine.”

Little Tupelo’s middle name also has special significance. Storm was the middle name of Riley’s late brother Benjamin, who died in 2020.

Riley also spoke to Vanity Fair about her relationship with her grandmother Priscilla Presley. The actress confirmed everyone was “happy” following the legal settlement of the estate of her late mother, Lisa Marie.

Riley also quashed recent rumours suggesting Priscilla wouldn’t be allowed to be buried at Graceland.
