When Abbie Jane started sharing packets of rainbow beads with her friends, and other LGBTQIA+-identifying kids to wear on their shoelaces, she had no clue the project would go global!

Along with her friend Max Dawnn, 13-year-old Abbie created the Rainbow Shoelace Project as a way to support the queer community in her home town of Broken Hill, NSW.

Abbie explains the beads, threaded onto shoelaces, signal you are a part of the LGBTQIA+ community, or you are an ally.
