Sunrise's saddest day 'WE ARE DEVASTATED'

A usually stoic Natalie Barr broke down in tears live on television last week, as she paid tribute to her late mate, reporter Nathan Templeton.

His passing last Monday, aged just 44, sent shock waves through the Sunrise set, with the newsroom struggling to contain their grief on-air last Thursday.

"It's been a tough few days for the Sunrise family with the devastating loss of one of our much-loved team members, Nathan Templeton, or 'Tempo' as he was known to all of us," Nat said. "We know you had more stories to tell your viewers. We are sorry you can [no longer tell them."

Nathan, a husband and father of two boys, died following a medical episode while out walking his dog near the Barwon River in Geelong last Monday afternoon.

He joined Sunrise as their Melbourne correspondent in 2016, worked as a Weekend Sunrise sports presenter, and most notably was the poolside interviewer at both the 2016 and 2020 Olympics.
