THERE'S SO MUCH I still want to do

Denise Scott wants you to know one thing – there is no way she’s letting the ‘big C’ ruin the biggest moment of her career.

The veteran entertainer is taking on Ruth Cracknell’s iconic role of Maggie Beare in the ABC’s reboot of Mother and Son. However, just as production was about to begin six months ago, Denise, 68, was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. Doctors told her she needed to begin chemotherapy immediately, which she did while filming.

Choosing to go public with her cancer just days before Mother and Son’s anticipated premiere this week, Denise is not giving up. With her treatment going to plan, she remains hopeful for the future.

Playing Maggie signals a new chapter in her decadeslong career – she is finally a leading lady. So she has no plans for the book to be shut on her just yet!

“These days I just want to keep working in some shape or form – writing, doing live comedy shows, more TV … earning a living from making people laugh!” Denise tells New Idea.
