Between interrupted sleep, spontaneous periods and hot flushes, menopause can come with a slew of unwelcome symptoms - many of which make exercising seem near impossible. However, fitness guru and founder of The Menopause Method Michelle Bridges believes exercise is a secret weapon that can help during this stage of life.

"Exercise can resolve so many issues both physically and mentally for all of us," she explains. "From weight gain, bone strength loss, brain fog, anxiety, confidence and even libido, exercise will support and improve so many of the [menopause] symptoms."

In an online survey of GPS, 52 percent felt they were not offered sufficient training to advise women with menopause symptoms. Michelle's first piece of advice is to find a GP who specialises in menopause.
