Artist collaborations are not new for Louis Vuitton. The luxury house has a long history of working with artists, dating as far back as a century ago when it commissioned artists to create store windows. Even in the late '80s prior to the Marc Jacobs' helm as creative director from 1997 to 2014, Louis Vuitton had worked with American conceptual-minimalist artist, Sol LeWitt, to produce a series of graphic print scarves. From Takashi Murakami to Richard Prince, the late Stephen Sprouse to Jeff Koons, every artist partnership played a vital role in defining an era for the 169-year-old brand.
