NORDIC TOUCH
When you're cocooned in Auriga Spa at Capella Singapore, itself surrounded by lush flora and well away from the cacophony of the city, drifting off into a state of relaxation is as effortless as closing your eyes.
Their signature Northern Light Facial takes that imaginary journey a little further to Norway. Exclusively designed by Oslovian skin therapist Linda Jørgensen of the award-winning Nordic Formula for Auriga Spa, the treatment takes inspiration from the Norwegian climate: The cold, the rain, and the heat of the saunas that locals dip into during the winter.
It begins with a massage for the head, face, and neck to release any tension. A deep yet gentle cleansing of the skin follows, amplified by a soft, vibrating brush for gentle exfoliation. Vitamin C serum, derived from sea buckthorn, is sprayed on the skin - a reference to the Norwegian rain - before being massaged in cold, and further by a heated gemstone.
This hot-and-cold technique is so soothing that I am easily lulled into sleep. A cold technique follows once again with a cooling eucalyptus mask to reduce inflammation and a pulsing device to aid absorption and enhance circulation.
As the mask does its work, the therapist massages acupressure points in my shoulders and neck, further deepening the relaxation experience. The treatment ends with the application of Nordic Formula's Serum Power Glow and Day Cream Defence Repair to further hydrate, brighten and reduce inflammation. Emerging from Auriga Spa's resting lounge, I notice how visibly calm and radiant my typically irritated skin is - an effect that is supposed to last for days.
The nourishing and gentle nature of the treatment means there is no downtime a touch of concealer and blush, and I am out the door, ready and glowing for my next appointment. - Candice Chua.
