"How can you believe in something that isn't there? It's a question I've asked for most of my life. I asked it when, at seven years old, my parents took me to see a priest who claimed to be a healer, in the hope it would help ease my chronic asthma. I asked it with a roll of the eyes as a teenager attending a convent school. And, throughout my 20s, I asked it constantly of my relationships - how did you know how someone felt about you if they weren't skywriting it?
