Dell has taken an approach of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", with this new version looking pretty much identical to last year's model. But there is a significant performance bump thanks to its 12th-gen Intel CPU and the faster DDR5 system memory.
While the XPS 15 might still look the same, its design is still a winner. The aluminium case design feels tough enough to stand up to plenty of use, and it houses a large, wide keyboard with chiclet-style keys across most of the width. However, there is no numeric keypad, which is a pain if you have to do a lot of data entry.
The speakers are located on either side of the keyboard, and produce excellent sound with plenty of volume and presence if you like it loud.
The touchpad is on the larger side. It responds to a gentle touch of the fingertips but ignores an accidental palm touch as it should. There is also a satisfying click when you press down.
