A DROP OF WATER

It was a beautiful misty morning in Florida. I was sitting with a steaming cup of tea, watching the fog outside.

My thoughts were still in my home country even though I was physically in the United States. I had long wanted to go to Thrissur's Pooram Festival in February. I was waiting for a chance to suggest that my son book a flight to Kochi to my son. My focus was regained when I heard approaching feet. I felt Sarath gently touch my shoulder and he said, "Good morning, dad. ''How's it, father, you are in deep thought?” I looked into his eyes with sadness in the face.

"I have also booked your ticket along with Sarika and Renu," Sarth continued. Oh, that's nice of you, son, I said "I know dad, you want to visit Kerala," Sarath retorted.

After a week, we left for Kochi. On the way to Shornur, we arrived at Sarath's apartment close to the Girija Theatre. The following two days were spent visiting with family and my close school friends. Soon after a week had passed, Pooram day arrived. In order to get to the Thiruvambadi temple, we took an auto. To get to the city's vehicle movement restrictions, we had to travel a fair distance on foot. At 11.30 am, the celebrated "Madathil varavu," which featured an elephant and a great artists' performance, started. Renu was taking pleasure in the festivities despite the oppressive heat.
