The deadliest seismic event in the world in more than a decade, the disaster in Turkey and Syria has killed more than 33,000 people, injured tens of thousands and flattened thousands of buildings. Frigid weather has further dimmed the chances of finding people alive and, according to the World Health Organization, may bring "a secondary disaster" for survivors who have been left homeless.
