Electric buses keep combusting

AN electric bus spontaneously combusted in its garage in Putney, London on January 24, not a week after two buses that were in service on Britain's roads also burst into flames in Wimbledon and Woolwich.

Nobody was on the bus in Putney, but in the other two incidents, passengers had to flee as flames ripped through the engine bay, with one man injured from smoke inhalation.

Back in May 2022, six buses were engulfed in flames at a garage in Potters Bar, and the entire fleet was recalled 'as a precaution'. No lessons seem to have been learned though, and bus operator Go Ahead has announced a 'precautionary check' of its 380 electric buses.
