A meeting between the RFU, PRL and Championship clubs last week confirmed there is more than £300m of debt spread across 11 Premiership teams. “We need a dramatic rethink and restructure in English men’s rugby to stop this rot, and it is a rot, we are going backwards,” Morgan told TRP.
“I’m a lifelong rugby player, fan and now club chairman, I want to see our sport thriving at every level, and if you’re the governing body of any sport, you only have one job – that’s to make it thrive. But at every level, we’re not thriving.
