<p>The hosts had secured the extra point within the opening half hour at the Ferens, making Billingham pay for their inability to turn their own possession into points.</p>
<p>Visiting head coach Peter Evans pulled no punches, though, opting to reflect inwardly.</p>
<p>&ldquo;We gave Hull too much ball and space in the first half which left us with a lot of work to do,&rdquo; said Evans.</p>

<p>Despite taking the lead through an early Jobe Roxby penalty, Billingham had few answers for&nbsp;the Hull onslaught which followed. Quick ball allowed Bureta Faraimo to get across for their opener, before a spate of excellent offloads fuelled by a desire to keep the ball alive as much as possible saw Reece Dean cross the whitewash.</p>

<p>Hudson-Kowalewicz then took centre stage, striking twice within five minutes to, essentially, put the outcome of the contest beyond any real doubt.</p>
<p>He was the man to apply the finishing touches from a move which started with a well worked line-out, his second preceded by plenty of willing runners ahead of the winger applied his Midas touch.</p>
<p>To their credit, Evans' men continued to make life as difficult as possible for their opponents and were rewarded just before the break when some smart-thinking from John Padley saw him pick and go from five metres.</p>
<p>Despite losing Paulos Latu to the sin-bin, Hull further extended their lead on the hour mark when former Tonga international, Halaifonua, David rampaged his way over off a crash ball.</p>
<p>Billingham doggedly stuck to their task and their efforts came up trumps again when Adam Brown wriggled over.</p>
<p>And as Anthony Jackson surged through a clutch of bodies to make it a nine-point game going into the closing moments, belief surged through the visitors.</p>
<p>As they went in search of a fourth try, they were picked off by Hudson-Kowalewicz as he snaffled a loose ball to go from try-line to try-line to wrap up an afternoon he won't forget for some time in what was a thrilling encounter.</p>
