INSPIRED by his old Uni mate Will Rigg, Dafydd-Rhys Tiueti is hoping that joining Coventry this summer will do wonders for his career.

Tiueti out to make most of Cov move

Tiueti and Rigg played together and were on the same business management course at Cardiff Met but while Rigg left once he graduated to pursue a pro rugby career, Tiueti stayed on to do his Masters.

Rigg earned an eye-catching move to Exeter in January after scoring 14 tries in 31 appearances in an 18-month spell at the Butts Park Arena, while Tiueti ’s first taste of senior semi-pro rugby came at Nottingham last season.

A good performance for the Green & Whites against Coventry caught the eye of Cov boss Alex Rae and now he’ll be swapping one Midlands club for another.

Nottingham did put an offer on the table but Tiueti had agreed to sign for Coventry by then and the prospect of being in a full-time environment, and seeing what it did for Rigg’s career, excites him.

“Seeing someone who I have played with quite a lot go there and do as well as he has is eye-opening and exciting for me. Hopefully I can do the same and follow in his footsteps,” he said. “It’ll be a big step up being full-time; hopefully I can continue to progress and go further from there. I am buzzing for it.”
