746 cameras tampered with during Diwali with aim to burgle homes

Tampering took place between Oct 31 and Nov 6; cops look for answers to the mischief

Of the total CCTV networks installed in the city, cops have found that 746 CCTV cameras were tampered with. This tampering, which happened during both the pre and post-Diwali period, is now a matter of concern for the cops.

"We are in the process of tracing how and why the CCTVs were tampered with. This is the time when burglars strike the most, with many Amdavadis on vacation trips," said a senior police official.

This detail emerged during the review meeting of the Nirbhaya Ahmedabad Safe City Project held on November 7. Information and Communication Technology (ICT), one of the main initiatives for citizen security, was among the key points of discussion during the review meeting.
