Accused constable had several run-ins with law

The murder of Priyanshu Jain, a second-year MBA student of MICA and the subsequent arrest of Virendrasinh Padheriya, a constable with the Sarkhej police station, has brought to light the tainted history of the accused.

Sources said on the day of the incident, Padheriya was on sick leave and had gone out in his car to buy khichdi. He bought the khichdi and was on his way back when he allegedly got into a fight with the MICA student and his friend and ended up killing the young man. Following the murder, he returned home, ate the khichdi with his family and told them that he was heading to Punjab for work.
