The city's cyber crime cell arrested four individuals for cheating a senior citizen of Rs 1.26 crore in a digital fraud case. The fraudsters employed forged documents purportedly from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and fake certificates from the Supreme Court of India. The victim was put under "digital arrest" by the scamsters and made to transfer the money to their accounts.
Probe revealed that the fraudsters had made calls to the victim from Cambodia. They used dummy bank accounts to receive money from the victim and transferred it to the bank accounts of their four accomplices in Ahmedabad.
