A minor road argument near Sun South Street Complex in Bopal late Sunday night escalated into a fatal stabbing, claiming the life of Priyanshu Pankaj Jain, 23, a MICA College second-year student. Jain was attacked by an unidentified car driver after a brief argument about speeding.
SP Rural Om Prakash Jat told Mirror that they have partial footage of the black car involved, but the number plate is not visible.
"We are backtracking and scanning CCTVs and will very soon apprehend the killers of the young student who was preparing for campus placement," said SP Jat.
Originally from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, Priyanshu had come to Ahmedabad to study and resided at the Ashoka Hostel.
The incident occurred around 10.30 pm as Priyanshu and his friend, Prithviraj Das Mohapatra, were returning to college on a Bullet bike after a snack break.
The trouble began when Priyanshu reportedly asked a speeding car driver to slow down as they crossed paths near the Rainforest crossroads. The driver, angered by Priyanshu's remark, followed them and stopped to confront the two students.
After a heated exchange, the car driver pulled out a knife and stabbed Jain. Jain was rushed to Saraswati Hospital and then to Zydus, where he was declared dead due to internal bleeding.
