METER DOWN

Ahmedabad's infrastructure may be booming, but the humble auto-rickshaw remains a source of daily frustration for many commuters. Drivers are increasingly refusing to use their meters, leaving passengers at their mercy and facing inflated fares.

A Mirror Check revealed the extent of the problem. A 10-kilometer journey from Gota Chokdi to Kalupur Railway Station, which costs Rs 177 on ride-hailing apps, will set you back Rs 300-350 in an auto. Similarly, the 8.9 km trip from Kalupur Railway Station to Thaltej Metro Station costs Rs 200-250 by auto, compared to Rs 158 online.
