The Gujarat Police has launched a special tenant registration drive, from October 13 to October 27. The drive is aimed at ensuring strict compliance with tenant registration norms to reduce crime and create a safe and secure environment in the state. As part of the drive, the police officers are conducting door-to-door visits to check if tenants were properly registered.From October 13 to October 18, the police checked a total of 30,305 tenants across the state. Of these, 2,515 tenants and landlords who did not follow the registration rules faced legal action.The police have used social media to inform the public about the importance of tenant registration. Citizens do not need to visit a police station to complete the registration process as it can be done easily online through the Gujarat Citizen First app.The cops have been instructed to ensure that neither tenants or landlords face unnecessary trouble during this process, and that the conduct of the police remains professional. There have been cases in the past where criminals used rented properties to carry out illegal activities. Tenant registration has been made mandatory to curb the crime. From October 13 to October 18, the police checked a total of 30,305 tenants across the state.
