Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer led politicians in laying wreaths at the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in recognition of the servicemen and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in conflicts dating back to the First World War.

New Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch also laid a floral tribute along with other major party leaders following a two-minute silence in Whitehall.

An unprecedented eight former premiers Sir John Major, Sir Tony Blair, Gordon Brown, Lord Cameron, Baroness May, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss and Rishi Sunak - were in attendance at the solemn ceremony.
