FORMER Metropolitan Police officer David Carrick has appeared in court charged with sexually abusing a girl more than 30 years ago and raping a woman.

He faces five charges of indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 14 in 1989 and 1990, when Carrick was 14 and 15.

Carrick, 49, also faces two counts of rape, one count of sexual assault and a count of coercive and controlling behaviour against a woman between 2014 and 2019 when he was a serving police officer.

The alleged sex crimes are said to have taken place in Salisbury and Stevenage.

The former police officer, who was a member of the Met's Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection unit, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court yesterday through a videolink from HMP Full Sutton.
