ALBERT ADOMAH is targeting more longevity landmarks after clocking up 700 professional games.Already the all-time appearance maker in his "beloved" Championship with 526, Walsall winger Adomah, 36, then reached the 700-mark last month.And he said: "When I joined my boyhood club QPR, I was 32 and thought if I could play until 37, my shirt number, that would be a great achievement."In two months I can tick that off and aim for the next one - maybe play to 40, maybe reach 750 games."I was joking with a friend the other day, if I combine my non-league days, plus my professional days, I've probably reached 1,000 games already."But if I can do it professionally, that will also be amazing."Adomah (on target for Walsall, above) loves football so much that in his younger days, when he first first turned professional at Barnet, he was still playing five-a-side matches with mates after training.But he soon learned the need to prioritise his career and believes his dedication is key to his staying power."I pride myself on making sure I do everything right, especially on days off," he said."Recovering, get myself seven bags of ice, put them in the ice bath, sit in there for two minutes, two hours later, come back and sit in there again."Things like that. Some people probably want to go clubbing or maybe shopping. I'd rather just rest, prepare for the next game." His first professional match a dream goalscoring debut for Barnet against Hereford in January 2008 is one of Adomah's biggest career highlights.His Championship appearance record and Premier League promotions with Middlesbrough and Aston Villa are other standouts. "If I can get the hat-trick of promotions that will be nice," said Adomah, with Walsall flying high in League Two.As he is still playing, though, Adomah insists he cannot fully reflect on his eight-club professional career just yet.However, a recent off-field venture has given him reason to look back at how far he has come. He was announced as the new sponsor of Harrow Borough's Under-18s and 23s and will have his social media handle 'Uncs37' - a nod to his nickname Uncle displayed on their shirts.The tie-up has sentimental significance for Adomah as it was his semi-pro spell at non-league Harrow that brought him to wider attention -including Barnet's.Harrow's U18s and U23s are run in collaboration with former Chelsea youngster Godfrey Torto's AG Football Academy and together they have helped several youngsters earn moves into the professional game, most recently at clubs like Ipswich, Bournemouth and Milwall.Adomah was once just like the partnership's prospects young, gifted and hoping for that big break, which he eventually got at Barnet.He added: "I didn't play for an academy and was not a professional until I was 20."Some people think if they don't make it by 15 or 16, that's it for them, but there is always time."If you believe in yourself, you shouldn't give up. It's never too late."
