POLICE firearms officers who kill in the line of duty will have their identities kept secret unless convicted, it was announced yesterday.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper told MPs it was vital officers are not put in further danger after it emerged that gangsters offered a £10,000 bounty for the name and address of marksman Martyn Blake.

Sgt Blake, 40, shot dead 24-year-old Chris Kaba in 2023 but was cleared of the gang member's murder on Monday.
