TOM CANNON fired struggling Stoke to a dramatic stoppagetime win as the club started life after Narcis Pelach with a welcome three points.

Club legend Ryan Shawcross (right), a reminder of happier times for the Potters, oversaw a spirited Stoke performance as they secured a first victory in 10 games.

Leicester loanee Cannon's 10th goal of the season lifted them four points clear of the relegation zone promotion-chasing as Sunderland missed the chance to close the gap on the top two.

Stoke stopper Viktor Johansson kept the Black Cats at bay as the hosts recorded a deserved first clean sheet in seven.

Caretaker boss Shawcross, who celebrated wildly at the full-time whistle, beamed: "To win it at the end was amazing, the feeling in the stadium are what dreams are made of.
