MUCH-LOVED DJ Steve Wright died of a ruptured stomach ulcer and infection, it emerged yesterday.

The veteran Radio 2 star died suddenly at the age of 69 in February, with friends revealing he had been through heart surgery 15 months earlier.

But a death certificate revealed the cause as a perforated gastric peptic ulcer leading to peritonitis, which is a severe infection.

While a cause of death was not disclosed at the time, his brother Laurence blamed "lifestyle choices", saying: "It's like anyone who doesn't look after themselves over an extended period. The normal stuff - diet, nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress.

"He was a very stoic kind of guy so if he had something wrong with him, he wouldn't talk about it."
