BRITISH nationals in Lebanon have again been urged to leave the country as the UK prepares for a possible evacuation.

The Foreign Office warned the situation in the region could deteriorate rapidly, as fears escalate over a wider Middle East conflict.

Commercial routes to the UK remain available from Beirut-Rafic Hariri airport.

Border Force staff, consular officials and military personnel are being deployed to the region to support embassy workers as part of planning for "possible conflict scenarios".

The US embassy in Beirut also told its nationals to quit the country amid escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.
