JEREMY Kyle yesterday denied humiliating a guest who is said to have taken his own life after a clash over a lie-detector test.

Unaired footage of the TV star's confrontation with Steve Dymond was yesterday played at his inquest.

Mr Kyle was seen berating him over claims he cheated on his partner and urging him to "be a man, grow a pair of balls". The presenter insisted he was just doing his job and said he was not responsible for the wellbeing of people after they appeared.

Mr Dymond died seven days after filming that episode of ITV's Jeremy Kyle Show on May 2, 2019, in which he failed the lie detector test.

Mr Kyle said: "I was paid to do a job.

The production, the producing, the aftercare, the lie-detector test were not my responsibility. I was the presenter. I did not create the show.

"I had full confidence in the production team and the aftercare team provided."

APPLAUSE

Mr Kyle watched his clash on a TV screen at the inquest.

Asking Mr Dymond about the lie-detector test result, he said: "The studio thought you were telling the truth, I wouldn't trust you with a chocolate button, mate." Referring to the guest's partner Jane Callaghan, he told Mr Dymond, of Portsmouth, Hants: "Tell her the goddam truth." Mr Kyle, 59, denied encouraging the audience to turn on the 63-year-old as he tried to explain why he had been messaging another woman.
