JOSH KERR had a first pint since Christmas in the early hours of yesterday morning but the 1500m silver medalist made it clear he was not drowning his sorrows.

Instead, after Cole Hocker shocked the Scot and nemesis Jakob Ingebrigtsen (below) to take gold in the Olympics' mostanticipated race, the fiery rivals appear to have acquired a greater level of respect for one another.

"Those are the races you fantasise about growing up, going right to the line like that," Kerr said yesterday morning.

"Obviously I wanted to cross the finish line first but I can't do anything about what anyone else does other than myself.

"I told myself I'd execute the perfect 1500m race plan for myself and run the best and fastest 1500m in British history.
