LUCY Letby's status as a multiple murderer of babies is an "important piece of evidence" when deciding if she tried to kill another infant, a jury was told.

Letby, 34, is on trial again charged with the attempted murder of a baby girl, who can only be identified as "Child K" for legal reasons.

Last summer, the former neonatal nurse was convicted of murdering seven babies and the attempted murder of six more while she worked at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

The jury in Letby's original 10-month trial had failed to reach a verdict over allegations she faced in the case of Child K.
