MENTAL HEALTH HELP NOW JUST 111 CALL AWAY

PEOPLE suffering a mental health crisis can now get help from the NHS's 111 service.

The line, which is for urgent but non-emergency healthcare, previously only helped with physical health problems.

Now patients and family members can call 111 to be directed to counselling and support services.

The new service replaces fragmented and patchy local support lines for mental illness.
