No love lost, but Melania holds key to victory

Since her family's eviction from the White House in January 2021, the former First Lady has seldom been seen or heard.

The day after the attack in Pennsylvania, Melania issued a rare public statement. In the 12 paragraphs released, only two mentioned her husband. The rest was a call to reunite America.

Despite showing no affection for her husband, Melania's public support could cement his return to office. She is expected to be by his side at his appointment as the Republican candidate for the November 5 US election at the party's National Convention in Milwaukee.

Some believe that will be the final nail in the coffin for Joe Biden's re-election bid.
