Examiners can't give 'fair marks' because of pupils' illegible work

PUPILS' handwriting across the UK is now so poor that their work is almost impossible to mark, examiners say.

Their concerns are based on some illegible scripts in GCSE exams earlier this year.

Examiners claim the use of laptops and tablets in teaching is having a direct impact on pupils' handwriting.

It may mean the use of word processors in future or even scribes, who write as pupils dictate, during exams.
