Southport accused stays silent in court

THE teenager accused of killing three girls at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class refused to speak yesterday while appearing in court on new terror charges.

Axel Rudakubana, 18, held his grey prison sweater over the bottom of his face while appearing at Westminster magistrates court via videolink from HMP Belmarsh, South East London.

He did not respond when asked to confirm his name and a female security officer at the prison told the court he had chosen not to speak.

Stan Reiz KC, defending, said: Mr Rudakubana is choosing not to say anything. He has remained silent at previous hearings as well’

Rudakubana faces offences of production of the biological toxin ricin and possession of a military study of an al-Qaeda terror manual.
