CHRISTIAN HORNER has warned the Formula One title race will become a "mess" unless overtaking rules are quickly clarified.

Carlos Sainz won Sunday's race in Mexico City but that was overshadowed by another furious duel between Max Verstappen and Lando Norris (the pair battle for the lead, below).

Title tensions boiled over and the Dutchman was handed 20 seconds' worth of penalties, blamed for forcing the McLaren man off the circuit while defending seconds before overtaking illegally himself.

But while Norris said the defending champion got what he deserved, Verstappen insisted he will not change the way he drives.
