A MAN accused of a shooting spree in the Highlands told cops he felt "total darkness" as he embarked on his gun rampage.

Finlay MacDonald is on trial at the High Court in Edinburgh for the murder of his brother-in-law, stabbing his wife and attempting to murder an osteopath and his wife.

Yesterday jurors heard a recording of an interview MacDonald gave after the attacks on Skye and Dornie.

He told police: "I just didn't know what was going to

happen next. I just felt like the day was going to end badly.
