Israel's 24-day blitz on Gaza kills 1000

ISRAEL'S 24-day push in north Gaza has killed more than 1000 including women and children, it was claimed yesterday.

It is not known how many of the dead were Hamas terrorists, but Israel claims it captured at least 100 in the last 24 hours of fighting.

The toll came as the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza shot past 43,000, with fighting still raging in Lebanon.

More than half of those killed in Gaza have been women and children, the Palestinian health ministry said yesterday.

Israeli politicians last night passed legislation that threatens the work of UNRWA, the main UN agency providing aid to Gaza, by barring it from operating on Israeli soil.
