Residents return to homes as Israel-Hezbollah ceasefire begins

THOUSANDS of families returned to their homes in southern Lebanon as the Israel-Hezbollah truce took effect yesterday.

Roads were jammed with people desperate to get back to areas heavily bombed for more than two months.

The US and France-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Iranian-backed Hezbollah came into effect at 4am.

But hours later Israel Defence Forces said it had twice fired at "suspects" in southern Lebanon.
