OLYMPIC CHAMP OF EMPATHY

EILISH McColgan has been handed a special award for the compassion showed stricken Team GB teammate Megan Keith at the Paris Olympics.

In one of the most heartwarming moments of the Games, Eilish waited at the end of the 10,000m final to embrace her fellow Scot when she finished.

Megan, 22, from Inverness, had struggled in the race and had to be helped from the track by medics after crossing the line.

She had been nursing an ankle injury but was cheered by the crowd as she finished last before breaking down in Eilish's arms.

Eilish's gesture has now been recognised with an Eric Liddell 100 Recognition Award.
